Privacy policy
Effective October 10, 2026
The Domain Is Yours is run by BPTF LLC, 6650 Rivers Ave, Ste 100, Charleston, SC 29406. This page explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how long we keep it.
What we collect, and where from
- About businesses we email: the business's name, category, town and public contact details, including the email address the business publishes. These come from OpenStreetMap, a public map database, and from the business's own website. We read only public pages, follow each site's robots.txt, and skip sites that ask not to be contacted. We also record which domain names we checked and offered.
- When you reply: your email address and what you write.
- When you buy: the name, email, phone and billing address you give at checkout, which we need to register the domain in your name. Your payment details are collected by Stripe through Link; we never see or store your card number.
- On this website: nothing. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our emails contain no tracking pixels and no tracked links.
How we use it
- To work out whether a better domain is available for your business, and to send you one offer and at most one follow-up.
- To answer you, take payment, register the domain in your name, keep it working, renew it, and move it to you when you ask.
- To keep our do-not-contact list, and to keep the records the law requires.
We never sell or rent contact details, and we don't share them with anyone for their own marketing.
Who else handles it
Only the services we need to run this, each for its own part:
- Google: our mailbox (Google Workspace).
- Postmark: emails about your order.
- Stripe and Link: payment, receipts and sales tax.
- Dynadot and the domain registry: the registration itself. ICANN's rules require registrant contact details and limit what public domain lookups show.
- Cloudflare: this website and our network.
- A hosting provider in the United States that runs our servers.
- If we use an AI service to suggest names or to sort replies, it receives public business details or the text of a reply, never payment details.
How long we keep it
- Businesses we never contacted: deleted within 12 months.
- Emails and replies: up to 180 days after a conversation ends, unless you became a customer.
- Customers: your name and email for as long as we look after your domain, and order and payment records for 3 years after that, as tax and accounting rules require. We don't keep the phone number or address from checkout once the domain is registered; Stripe and Dynadot hold them under their own policies.
- The do-not-contact list: permanently, because that is how we make sure you never hear from us again.
Your choices
- Reply STOP or use the unsubscribe link in any email, and your address goes on our do-not-contact list straight away.
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it: anderson@thedomainisyours.com. We answer within 30 days. We keep your address on the do-not-contact list, and the records the law requires.
Security
We keep this information on access-restricted systems, and payment card details never reach us.
Children
This service is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date.
